Kuala Lumpur, January 22 (Xinhua) the first ASEAN digital ministerial series meeting was held from 21 to 22 by video. The conference adopted the ASEAN digital master plan 2025, aiming at promoting ASEAN digital development and cooperation. The meeting was presided over by SAIFUDIN Abdallah, Minister of communication and multimedia affairs of Malaysia. According to the joint declaration issued after the ASEAN ministers’ meeting, ASEAN digital master plan 2025 will guide ASEAN’s digital cooperation from 2021 to 2025 and build ASEAN into a leading digital community and economy driven by secure and transformative digital services, technologies and ecosystems. The covid-19 declaration said that the actions of ASEAN digital master plan 2025 will give priority to ASEAN’s recovery from the new crown epidemic situation, enhance the quality of fixed and mobile broadband infrastructure and expand its coverage, provide reliable digital services, create a competitive digital service market, enhance the quality of e-government services and expand its use, providing the number of connected businesses. To serve and promote cross-border trade, enhance the ability of enterprises and people to participate in the digital economy, and build an inclusive digital society. The meeting also issued a joint media statement. On digital cooperation with China, the statement said that the participating ministers expected ASEAN and China to strengthen policy coordination and deepen cooperation in digital technology and application.
