On the afternoon of January 25, Huawei responded to the rumor of selling mate and P-Series mobile phones, saying that it has no plan to sell mobile phone business at all and will insist on building a high-end smart phone brand.
Recently, it has been rumored that Huawei will separate the entire terminal business, which is similar to glory, and develop it independently.
Today, foreign media also reported that people familiar with the situation disclosed that Huawei is in talks with a consortium led by an investment company supported by the Shanghai government to conduct initial negotiations on the sale of its high-end smartphone brands P and mate.
The report also said Huawei has not yet made a final decision on the sale, and the negotiation may not end successfully because Huawei is still trying to manufacture its own high-end Kirin chip.
Huawei responded that it has no plan to sell its mobile phone business. Huawei will continue to build a world leading high-end smartphone brand and strive to provide consumers with excellent product experience and services.
Since the second half of 2020, due to the chip ban in the United States, Huawei’s self-developed Kirin chip can not be produced, nor can it purchase mobile phone chips from third-party suppliers, so it can only rely on inventory to produce smart phone products. This makes Huawei’s mobile phone supply difficult.
In November 2020, Huawei has separated its glory brand to break through the blockade of the United States.
Zhao Ming, CEO of glory, recently revealed in an interview with Sina Technology and other media that at present, almost all suppliers have reached supply cooperation with glory, including two major global mobile chip suppliers, Qualcomm and MediaTek. This also means that after glory independence, the issue of confession suspension has been solved.
