Guangdong's GDP exceeds 11 trillion, surpassing Russia and South Korea, ranking first in China for 32 consecutive years

When the mainland entered the “two sessions”, all provinces and cities successively released their 2020 economic report cards. Among them, in 2020, Guangdong’s total economic volume will break the 11 trillion yuan (RMB, the same below) mark for the first time, becoming the first province in the mainland to break the 11 trillion yuan mark, ranking first in China for 32 consecutive years. According to the data of the world bank, Guangdong’s GDP also exceeds the GDP of Russia and South Korea in 2019, followed by Canada. It is said that under the impact of the global epidemic, China is the only major economy to achieve positive economic growth, which means that Guangdong’s GDP will definitely exceed that of Russia and South Korea in 2020. In addition, Jiangsu’s GDP reached 10.27 trillion yuan last year, becoming the second province with GDP exceeding 10 trillion yuan after Guangdong.

Ma Xingrui, governor of Guangdong Province, said recently in his government work report that in 2020, the comprehensive economic strength of Guangdong Province will step up to a higher level and the quality and efficiency will be significantly improved. The GDP of Guangdong Province was 7.5 trillion yuan in 2015 and more than 11 trillion yuan in 2020, with an average annual growth rate of 6%, ranking first in China for 32 consecutive years. This total exceeds more than 90% of the countries in the world, which is equivalent to Canada, Russia and South Korea, and far exceeds Spain, Australia, the Netherlands and other countries.

Russia’s GDP is expected to shrink by 4% and South Korea’s by 1%

According to the average central parity of RMB exchange rate of 6.8974 in 2020, Guangdong’s GDP in 2020 is about $1.61 trillion. According to the latest exchange rate in 2021, Guangdong’s GDP is about $1.71 trillion. In 2019, Canada’s GDP will reach US $1.73 trillion, Russia’s will reach US $1.69 trillion, and South Korea’s will reach US $1.64 trillion. The GDP of most countries in 2020 has not been announced yet, but it is generally negative growth. Russia’s GDP is expected to decline by more than 4% and South Korea’s by 1%. Coupled with exchange rate changes, the rate of decline is probably below US $1.6 trillion. In other words, Guangdong’s GDP is expected to surpass that of Russia and South Korea for the first time this year.

Some experts believe that this is because Guangdong has initially formed a modern industrial system with advanced manufacturing and modern service industries as the main body, and has basically reached the level of innovative countries and regions. At present, Guangdong has formed seven trillion level industrial clusters, with the number of top 500 enterprises in the world increasing from seven to 14, and more than 55000 Industrial Enterprises above designated size. The development level of the core area of the Pearl River Delta has been continuously improved, the radiation and driving role of Guangzhou and Shenzhen has been significantly enhanced, Foshan has entered the ranks of trillion yuan cities, and the total economic volume of Dongguan is close to trillion yuan. Guangdong’s GDP growth in 2021 is set at 6%. Lin Jiang, Professor of economics at Lingnan College of Sun Yat sen University, believes that this goal is not conservative. However, Guangdong’s GDP base is very large. In the future, we need to make greater efforts to achieve growth of more than 6%.

At the same time, Jiangsu’s economic development also ushered in an important milestone. Jiangsu’s GDP will reach 10.27 trillion yuan in 2020, an increase of 3.5% over the previous year. A historic breakthrough of 10 trillion yuan marks a new step in the province’s comprehensive strength. For this year’s work, Wu Zhenglong said in the report that Jiangsu will improve the mechanism of tackling key projects and accelerate the solution of the problem of “sticking neck” in key fields and key links such as integrated circuits (chips).

Shandong total 7.31 trillion, up 3.6%

In addition to Guangdong and Jiangsu, Shandong, another strong economic province, has a GDP of 7.31 trillion yuan in 2020, with a year-on-year growth of 3.6%. Henan’s GDP was 5.4997 trillion yuan last year, a year-on-year increase of 1.3%. &The “4 trillion yuan club” includes Sichuan, Fujian, Hubei and Hunan. The GDP of Shaanxi, Jiangxi, Liaoning, Chongqing and Guangxi are all at 2 trillion yuan.

If we are good at cultivation and guidance, a number of Unicorn enterprises with high growth will be born in the future.
