Italian Prime Minister Robert Conte announced his resignation at a cabinet meeting today (26 June), after which he went to the presidential palace to submit his resignation. Foreign media expect President matarella to accept Conte’s resignation and hold consultations with the leaders of Italian political parties to solve the current government crisis.
Last week, the vitality Party led by former Prime Minister Renzi withdrew from the ruling coalition because of dissatisfaction with Conte’s response to the new crown crisis and economic recession. Conte lost an absolute majority in the house of Lords.
