U.N. Secretary General strongly condemns suicide bombing in Baghdad

On the 21st local time, UN Secretary General Guterres issued a statement through a spokesman, strongly condemning the suicide bombing in the Iraqi capital, Baghdad.

U.N. Secretary General spokesman diyaric said in a statement that Guterres strongly condemned the attack against civilians, expressed deep sympathy to the families of the victims, the Iraqi government and people, and hoped that the injured would recover soon.

Guterres called on the Iraqi people to reject any acts of terrorist violence that attempt to undermine peace, stability and unity, and urged the Iraqi government to quickly lock in and bring to justice the perpetrators of the incident. Guterres reiterated that the United Nations supports the efforts of the Iraqi government and people to consolidate peace.

On the 21st, two suicide bombers detonated explosive devices in a crowded market in the urban area of the Iraqi capital, Baghdad. The Iraqi health ministry says 32 people have been killed and another 110 injured in the blast.
