Xinhua news agency, Beijing, January 27 (reporter Wang Yijun) on the occasion of the international Holocaust Remembrance Day, the Israeli Central Bureau of statistics released data showing that in 2020, about 900 Holocaust survivors died of new coronavirus infection, accounting for 17% of Holocaust survivors infected with new coronavirus, and about 5% of Holocaust survivors died in the same year.
By the end of 2020, 179600 people in Israel had been certified as Holocaust survivors, 17000 of whom died in 2020, the German news agency reported Tuesday, citing data from the Israel Holocaust survivors Protection Agency. All Holocaust survivors are over 75 years old, of whom 17% are over 90 years old.

The president of the European Jewish Congress, Moses Cantor, called on the member states of the European Union to ensure that Holocaust survivors are vaccinated as soon as possible.
Israeli President rifling, German President Steinmeier and President of the Council of Europe Michel issued a joint statement on the evening of 26 to pay tribute to Holocaust survivors. The statement said the survivors represent “humanity conquers hatred”, “their inner strength inspires all of us” and “their testimony will always be a barrier to those who deny history”.
On November 1, 2005, the general assembly of the United Nations adopted a resolution to designate January 27 as “international Holocaust Remembrance Day”.
