Xinhua news agency, New Delhi, January 27 (reporter Hu Xiaoming) – Ji Rong, spokesman of the Chinese Embassy in India, commented on relevant Indian media reports on the 27th that China firmly opposes India’s ban on mobile phone applications with Chinese background under the pretext of “safeguarding national security”.
Regarding the recent Indian media reports that the Indian government will continue to ban mobile applications with Chinese background, Ji Rong said that since last year, India has repeatedly banned mobile applications with Chinese background under the pretext of “safeguarding national security”. The relevant practice violates the non discriminatory principle of the World Trade Organization and the principle of fair competition in the market economy, and seriously damages the legitimate rights and interests of Chinese enterprises. China firmly opposes this.
Ji Rong pointed out that the essence of Sino Indian Economic and trade cooperation is mutual benefit and win-win. She urged the Indian side to immediately correct this discriminatory practice so as to avoid causing more harm to the cooperation between the two sides. She said that India’s practice has also hindered the improvement of India’s business environment and the innovation and development of related industries.
Ji Rong said that the Chinese government has always required Chinese enterprises to carry out foreign cooperation on the basis of abiding by international rules and local laws and regulations. The Indian government has the responsibility to safeguard the legitimate rights and interests of international investors, including Chinese enterprises, in accordance with WTO rules and market principles.
