The sixth day meeting of the Eighth National Congress of the Korean workers’ party was held on January 10 with the high political awareness and enthusiasm of all participants, according to the DPRK Central News Agency (KCNA) report from Pyongyang on January 11.
According to the constitution of the Korean workers’ party, the term of office of the leading body of the Seventh Central Committee of the Communist Party of Korea ended, and the General Assembly held the election of the leading body of the Eighth Central Committee of the Communist Party of Korea.
The report also said that all the participants agreed to the 138 candidates recommended for the election as members of the Party Central Committee, and congratulated all the candidates with warm applause.
The report pointed out that all participants were particularly excited about the most important issue of electing the head of the WPK, the general secretary of the WPK.
According to the report, the conference reflected the unanimous will and long cherished wish of all the participants and Party members, the Korean people and people’s officers and soldiers to strengthen and develop Kim Il Sung’s Kim Jong Il party and strive for a new victory in the main revolutionary cause, and unanimously adopted a resolution on wholeheartedly supporting Kim Jong Un as general secretary of the Korean workers’ party.
The report also said that all participants broke out into thunderous cheers, and would like to extend the greatest glory and warmest congratulations to Comrade Kim Jong Un.
