Three right wingers charged with attacking the American society face up to 20 years in prison

Beijing, January 28 (Xinhua) according to foreign media reports, the U.S. Department of Justice said that three members of the right-wing militia “oath keepers” were charged with collusion and illegally broke into the Capitol building on January 6. They could face up to 20 years in prison on the charges.

“Jessica Watkins, 38, from Ohio, Donovan Crowl, 50, and Thomas Caldwell, 65, from Virginia, are charged,” the Justice Department’s website said

Sources show that the three defendants are associated with the “guardian of the oath” organization. The U.S. Department of justice calls it a militarized organization, which is composed of former law enforcement officers and veterans.

The U.S. Department of justice pointed out that investigators believe that these people are colluding with each other in order to obstruct official procedures, destroy state property and illegally enter restricted areas. It is reported that three people have been arrested.

According to the charges, the maximum penalty is 20 years’ imprisonment, the Department added.

On January 6, supporters of former U.S. President trump stormed the Capitol building after the rally, forcing Congress to suspend work for several hours. Five people died in the riot. At present, hundreds of people have been put on file for investigation for their participation in the impact of the Capitol building.
