A 4-year-old girl was walking with her family recently when she found fossil dinosaur footprints 220 million years ago, which made paleontologists all over the world “very excited.”.
Lily Wilder walked along a beach in Wales with her father and pet dog and found the well preserved Dinosaur Trail on a low rock. The rock was about the height of Lily’s shoulder. After Lily saw it, her father took a picture and told experts.
Howells, curator of the National Museum of Wales and paleontologist, said that the dinosaur’s footprints are 10 cm long and 220 million years ago. However, it is impossible to accurately determine the type of dinosaur at present. It is preliminarily estimated that it may be a dinosaur standing about 75 cm high and 2.5 meters long, with a slender body, a trailing tail, walking on two hind legs, and able to hunt other small animals and insects on its own.
She said that the footprints of the discovery can show all the details and joint positions of dinosaur muscles, and help scientists understand the way dinosaurs walked, which is described as “an amazing discovery.”.
It is reported that the National Museum of Wales has been closed due to the epidemic. After reopening, Lily and her class will be invited to visit. Her name will also be marked as the official discoverer.
