Japanese media: Japan plans to extend the emergency declaration to March 7

Novel coronavirus pneumonia emergency announcement will be extended to March 7th, according to a report on February 1st, Japan’s Kyodo News reported. The Japanese government will make a decision on the 2 day.

Earlier, the Japanese government issued an emergency declaration to Tokyo, Saitama, Chiba and Kanagawa on January 7, and added seven prefectures including Tochigi and Fukuoka on January 13. The deadline for the declaration was February 7. Government experts said that although the epidemic control has achieved certain results, “the number of severe patients and deaths are at the highest level so far”, and it will take some time to improve.
