Biden’s foreign policy speech rescheduled due to bad weather

A winter storm swept across the east coast of the United States on January 1, local time. 44 counties in New York state entered a state of emergency. 19 states were under the winter storm warning. US President Biden also cancelled his foreign policy speech due to bad weather.

The White House press secretary said the president would “ensure close coordination among federal, state and local officials in preparing for and responding to weather emergencies.”

New York City is facing the biggest snowstorm in nearly five years. It has declared a state of emergency on the 1st local time. New York governor Cuomo announced a state of emergency in New York City and 44 counties including Hudson Valley and long island. The governor also issued a warning to passengers and commuters that ground subway services, as well as some services of LIrr and Metro North, may be seriously delayed or interrupted.
