Lily, also known as white lily, medicine lily, Lily garlic, garlic brain potato. It is the dry fleshy scale leaf of Liliaceae plant Lilium lancifolium (Lilium lancifolium), Lilium or Lilium tenuifolium (Lilium lancifolium). In autumn, dig, wash, peel the scaly leaves, put them in boiling water, and dry them.

The dry fleshy scaly leaves are oblong, 2 cm ~ 5 cm long, 1 cm ~ 2 cm wide, and 1.3 mm ~ 4 mm thick in the middle. There are several parallel white vascular bundles on the surface. Apex slightly pointed, base wider, margin thin, microwavy, slightly curved inward. It is hard and brittle, with flat section and horny appearance. Odorless, slightly bitter.

Food characteristics

The starch content of Lily Scale leaf is 70%, both dry and fresh can be used for food, mainly fresh lily. Now there are dry products in most parts of China, especially in Zhejiang, Jiangsu, Hunan, Hubei and other places. Lily is a traditional export specialty of China.

Indications: Nourishing Yin, moistening lung, clearing heart and calming mind. It is used for yin deficiency, dry cough, cough, hemoptysis, palpitation, insomnia and dreaminess.

Medicated diet and tonic food

Erhe glutinous rice porridge: 50 grams of lily, 10 walnuts, 10 red dates, appropriate amount of glutinous rice. First, remove the shell of walnut and take the meat, keep the red walnut coat, and wash it with clean water; wash the lily and red dates separately, and remove the core of red dates; wash the glutinous rice with clean water, put all the above things into the pot together, and add appropriate amount of water. First, boil it with high heat until the water boils, then simmer it with low heat until the glutinous rice blooms. Add seasoning and serve.

When used together, it can nourish the lung and kidney, relieve cough and asthma. It is suitable for elderly patients with chronic bronchitis, cough and asthma and deficiency of lung and kidney qi. Healthy people can eat it to tonify the lung and kidney, strengthen the body and increase resistance.

Stewed spareribs with lily and lotus root: 8 pork ribs, 1 lotus root, 30g lily, half green onion, 2 ginger slices, appropriate amount of salt. Wash the spareribs, blanch them in a pot under cold water, remove and reserve them, peel the lotus roots and cut them into hob pieces. Add water to the casserole and bring to a boil. Add the boiled spareribs and the cut lotus root, green onion and ginger. Bring to a boil over high heat. Turn to low heat and simmer for 1 hour. Add salt and simmer for another 10 minutes. Turn off the heat and add the lily. The lily becomes transparent.

This dish has the effect of tonifying deficiency, moistening lung, moistening intestines and defecating. It is a good food and tonic for the elderly, children, weak and sick people. It is also a common food therapy for moistening dryness in winter.

Lily chicken rice: 1 hen, 60g lily, 60g japonica rice. The chicken was slaughtered to remove its hair and viscera. Lotus root: 500g fresh lotus root, 15g lily, 15g lotus seed, 15g orange, 15g job’s tears, 15g Euryale ferox seed, 125g glutinous rice, 30g honey cherry, 15g melon slices, 500g sugar, 60g lard oil. Cut off the thick part of fresh lotus root, wash inside and outside, and poke through the hole with bamboo chopsticks. Put the washed glutinous rice into the hole and fill it tightly. Tap the hole with the back of a knife to seal it. Put it in a pot and cook it. Put it in water and float it. Peel it off and cut it into 6 mm thick pieces. Remove the skin and heart of lotus seeds, put them in a bowl with Coix, Lily and Euryale ferox seeds, rinse them, add proper amount of water and steam them. Melon slice, orange slice, honey cherry slice. The pork net oil is made into a square shape and spread in the pot. The honey cherries are randomly arranged into patterns, and then the melon slices, tangerine, job’s tears, lily, Euryale ferox seed, lotus seed, etc. are successively put into patterns. The lotus root slices are put into patterns, sprinkled with sugar, steamed in the cage until rotten. Turn over the plate and remove the net oil. The rest of the sugar is harvested and the juice is hung. Appropriate amount of food.

This dish has the functions of clearing heat, moistening lung, nourishing heart and calming mind.
