A huge fireball appeared in the night sky of Tokyo, Japan, lasting for more than 5 seconds

People’s daily, Tokyo, January 21 (Xinhua) according to the website of Asahi Shimbun, a huge fireball appeared in the Western night sky of Tokyo around 8:30 pm on the 20th. The fireball continued to appear for more than 5 seconds, and its brightness was basically the same as that of the first quarter moon. Due to the clear weather, such a bright fireball can be seen to the naked eye in a large area. The Asahi news agency’s tomuzeng observation station in Nagano Prefecture also photographed the fireball.

According to the “sonotaco network” of meteor observation network, the fireball crosses the sky over Shanli county from south to north. The final burning position of the fireball is very high, and the possibility of falling to the ground and becoming a meteorite is relatively low.

In July of last year, a big fireball passed through the night sky in the Kanto area of Japan, burning the rest of it and falling into Chiba Prefecture. It was named xizhiye meteorite.
